Privacy Policy

This website, mohamedamine.dev (the "Site"), is operated by Mohamed Amine Cheikh, a freelance full-stack engineer based in Tunisia. I am the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

I only collect what is needed to run the Site and reply to you:

• Contact form — your name, email address, and the message you write. This is stored in the Site's database so I can read and answer it.
• Newsletter — your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
• Usage data — pages visited, referring site, approximate location (country/city), device and browser type, and time spent on pages, collected through Google Analytics.
• Security data — when you submit the contact form, Google reCAPTCHA analyses signals such as your IP address and browser behaviour to tell humans from bots.
• Server logs — the hosting infrastructure may record IP addresses, request times, and user-agent strings for security and troubleshooting.

I do not collect payment details, government identifiers, or any sensitive categories of data through the Site.

• To reply to your enquiries and discuss potential work.
• To send the occasional newsletter about new articles, tips, or projects — only if you subscribed.
• To understand which content is useful and improve the Site.
• To protect the Site against spam, abuse, and attacks.

I do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build profiles about you.

Where data-protection law such as the GDPR applies, I rely on:

• Your consent — for the newsletter and for analytics. You can withdraw it at any time.
• Legitimate interest — to answer messages you send me, keep the Site secure, and prevent spam.

The Site itself does not set tracking cookies. Third-party services embedded on the Site do:

• Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to recognise returning visitors and measure traffic.
• Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies and read browser information to detect automated abuse of the contact form.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a content blocker, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The Site keeps working without these cookies.

The following providers process data on my behalf or under their own policies:

• Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA — see the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
• Hosting, database, and file storage providers — used to serve the Site and store contact messages, newsletter subscriptions, and media.

The Site links to external platforms such as GitHub, LinkedIn, Upwork, and X (Twitter). Those sites have their own privacy policies, which I do not control.

• Contact messages — kept as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, then deleted.
• Newsletter emails — kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you.
• Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months and only available to me in aggregated form.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data I hold about you.
• Ask me to correct or delete it.
• Object to or restrict how I use it.
• Withdraw consent, including unsubscribing from the newsletter.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

The Site is served over HTTPS, and access to stored messages and subscriber lists is restricted to me. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security, but I take reasonable steps to protect your data.

Some providers, including Google, may process data outside your country — for example in the United States. Where required, those transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

The Site is not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided data through the Site, contact me and I will delete it.

I may update this policy as the Site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
